In 1960, first heavy truck of new China was born, named Lao-Huang-He, meaning “aged huang river”. This decades of brand development gave Sinotruk a strong cultural heritage.
And in some degrees, Howo trucks are the most typical representative of current Sinotruk.
On December 17th, 1983, Sinotruk signed the cooperation contract with the Austrian company, Steyr, and introduced 16 to 40 tons models of 91 series, also introduced ZF gearboxes, ZF steering gears and Fuller transmissions.
On June 9th, 2003, Volvo Trucks signed a joint venture agreement with Sinotruk. The total investment was 1.6 billion RMB.
Volvo Trucks gave the technology of their old FL10 cabin to Sinotruk as a gift, which made the first generation of Howo cabin.
The first Howo truck rolled off the assembly line on October 18th, 2004. At that time, Howo’s production line was the most advanced production line in China. The high efficiency line produced more than 10,000 vehicles each year. At that time, the sales of heavy trucks in whole China was only more than 200,000.
On December 13th, 2017, the one millionth Howo truck rolled off the assembly line.
By far, Howo trucks have achieved three points:
1- Largest sales in China
Among the mainstream heavy-duty truck brands in China, only Howo has a cumulative sales volume of over one million units. From this point, Howo is the well-deserved first place.
2- Champion for export
Sinotruk exports the largest number of trucks each year, the sales number is larger than all the 2nd, 3rd , 4th and 5th combined. In all the models that Sinotruk exports, Howo trucks takes 95% of the volume.
3- The most comprehensive product coverage.
Howo series covered heavy trucks, medium trucks, light trucks, buses, and military products.
Of course, the heavy trucks especially dump trucks are the most popular model.
